CAFS 75th Year Celebration
On January 31st, it was with great pleasure, that we acknowledged the achievements and history of CAFS 75 years of fleet safety.
In upcoming issues of CAFS Newsletter, we will be re-visiting and sharing with you CAFS journey. We will be presenting historical information and archive pictures along with the anniversary celebration speeches made by current Directors and Past President that were in attendance.
Among the 120 members and friends in attendance, we were delighted to see some returning Past Presidents and past Board of Director members. Their dedication to CAFS during their terms contributed to the success and longevity of our association.
We will begin this "Historical Review" of CAFS with the Welcome Members speech given by Executive Director, Lori Hendy.
Following is the "Welcome" speech given by Lori Hendy on January 31, 2024
Ladies and gentlemen,
Today, we gather with a sense of pride and celebration as we mark a significant milestone in the history of the Canadian Association of Fleet Supervisors (CAFS). The year 2023 signifies the 75th anniversary since our incorporation, a testament to the enduring legacy that began with a visionary group of fleet managers in 1948.
In those early days, the foresight of these pioneers led to the formation of a Fleet Safety Association, recognizing the crucial need for an organization dedicated to providing knowledge and information in the trucking industry. Since that momentous initial meeting and our subsequent incorporation in 1948, CAFS has evolved into a robust, innovative, and professional association.
Remaining true to the founding members' desires, we have continued to develop and implement innovative and proactive programs and training, empowering our members to reach their maximum potential. The dedication and commitment of our Past Presidents and their Board of Directors over the last seven plus decades have been the cornerstones of our association's foundation. Their visions have shaped our exciting goals and programs, benefiting not only our members but the entire trucking industry.
A special thank you is extended to these leaders, as well as the many dedicated individuals who played pivotal roles in the success of our events - unsung heroes who contributed significantly to our achievements.
To our members, your continued support is the bedrock of CAFS. An association is only as strong as its members, and we encourage each of you to actively participate and provide your valuable input.
Reflecting on my 27 years of employment with CAFS, it is truly gratifying to witness the leaps and bounds we have made. Throughout the 75 years, there were highs and lows, but every step, whether challenging or triumphant, has contributed to the history and success of CAFS.
CAFS is an association that we can all take pride in - a collective achievement. Congratulations on 75 years of dedication, innovation, and excellence! Here's to the continued success and growth of CAFS in the years to come.
Thank you all for being part of this remarkable journey.
Lori Hendy
